- If you're using google slides to present, good news! It got an update in spring of 2021
- New version allows presenters to enjoy an unobtrusive toolbar with simple buttons on hand to control the show
- Tiny, offers helpful feature in small package
- How to access toolbar: with your slideshow ready to go, move your cursor to the bottom-left corner of the screen, and you'll see the presenter toolbar display
- the arrows allow you to advance forward or back one slide. If you click the number in the center, you can jump to a particular slide without having to click through, putting you in control.
- Overflow menu: You can:
-Open speaker notes (giving you a separate window you can control, then close when you finish with it.)
-Turn on the laser pointer (Highlight certain parts of the slide. click it again to turn off the laser pointer or use the L key for a quick shortcut
-Enable Auto Play (if you prefer the slideshow to play on its own, you can select a time interval for each slide from the pop-out list and watch the show play automatically, or click "loop: for the continuous playing of your slideshow)
-"More"- this allows you to begin a Q&A with your audience, download as a pdf or powerpoint, or print your presentation (you can also access keyboard shortcuts here to learn all the handy google slides keyboard shortcuts you can use while presenting your slideshow)

Have you ever felt like the presenter toolbar was getting in the way while presenting in Google Slides? As it turns out, you're not alone! Google recently overhauled the presenter experience after listening [link to Google press release] to countless users expressing that the toolbar was clunky. Users felt it got in the way of their content, disrupting the experience for them and their audience. So, if you've written off Google Slides for this reason, we've got good news! Here's what you can look forward to in the new presentation experience.
A Quick Tutorial
After you've created your presentation, and are ready to try out the presenter mode, simply click the present button in the upper right hand corner.
